Jack Ryan returns in cinematic Ghost War

Jack Ryan isn’t done yet! John Krasinski is back in the field for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, hitting Prime Video globally on 20 May 2026.

Instead of rebooting the character again, Amazon is giving us a proper feature-length continuation of the hit series. Krasinski is joined by familiar faces Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly for a much tighter, harder-hitting mission that promises to be a massive event for fans.

We love a good espionage thriller, and bringing Jack Ryan back as a film feels like a very smart play. Amazon wrapped the series in 2023, but they clearly weren’t ready to put Krasinski’s brilliant take on the character into retirement.

What’s really refreshing is that they aren’t starting from scratch. We’ve had loads of Jack Ryans over the years – from Harrison Ford to Chris Pine – but Ghost War picks up exactly where the Krasinski era left off. Aaron Rabin is writing, Andrew Bernstein directs, and we’re getting James Greer and Mike November back in the mix.

The teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of a treacherous web of betrayal, with Sienna Miller joining as an MI6 officer. Moving from an eight-episode series to a two-hour film totally changes the vibe. There’s no time for sprawling detours; it’s got to get straight to the point. Honestly, that suits the later seasons of the show, which were already shifting towards cleaner, more brutal action.

The big test for Ghost War is whether this version of Ryan can make the jump to movie scale without losing the slow-burn tension that made the series so watchable. But with this cast and a focused storyline, 20 May is definitely one to stick in the diary.
